ENG vs IND 2021: “Rishabh Pant Can’t Be A Successful Test Batsman With Such Technique” – Salman Butt

Former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt has criticized Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant’s batting technique. He stated that Pant does not have a proper technique to play in English conditions.

The wicket-keeper batsman had has a stellar run in red-ball cricket this year. He averages 43.13 in 10 matches and has played several match-winning knocks. However, he has struggled so far in the ongoing test series against England. Rishabh Pant has scored only 87 runs in five innings and has an average of 17.40.

In a video on Salman Butt’s Youtube Channel, the former cricketer has opined that Rishabh Pant cannot be successful with his current batting technique in seaming conditions in Test cricket. Salman Butt said,

“Rishabh Pant doesn’t have a proper technique to play in England conditions. He is trying to come out of the crease on almost every ball and he can’t be a successful Test batsman with such technique. He should develop some patience with better defensive technique.”

“His defense is not strong enough in seaming conditions. He might be successful in India or Australia conditions but he can’t be successful in seaming conditions in any part of the world,” he added.

Rishabh Pant was playing with a lot of confusion: Salman Butt

Rishabh Pant got out cheaply (2,1) in the Leeds test match against England. He edged a length delivery to the third slip off Ollie Robinson’s bowling in the second innings. Salman Butt stated that Pant was confused about whether to play or leave the delivery, and there are further chances of him getting dismissed in a similar fashion. Butt said,

“He was clearly playing with a lot of confusion in mind and his shots were half-hearted. When the ball was going with an angle, he was trying to play away from his body, which he actually should have left. There are chances that he will get out in slips.”
