ENG vs IND 2021: “Things Happen At This Venue”-Michael Vaughan Predicts Day 4 Of Leeds Test

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has predicted Team India to earn a possible victory in the remaining days of the final two days at Headingley. India ended day 3 on 215/2 still trailing by 139 runs. Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli all contributed to India displaying batting determination on day 3. Vaughan said that given the history of the venue, anything is possible as things happen at Headingley.

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Michael Vaughan said that though India are still behind in the Test match, anything can happen if they have a good start on Day 4.

“They are miles behind the game and it’s never been done before what India have been asked to do from this position. But if they can get through that morning session and just lose one wicket, I honestly think there’s something that could happen in this Test match, because of the venue.”

Citing the example of Ben Stokes‘ knock of unbeaten 135 to help England win the Test match in 2019, Vaughan said that things happen at this venue and India can do something special.

“Things happen at this venue. I don’t know what it is, Ben Stokes, Beefy (Ian Botham) in ’81, special and silly things happen in the Test format here at this venue. We know India can lose 4 wickets in the morning and it’s done. But if they lose just 1, they’ll have the sneaky sniff of doing something special” Vaughan added.

Michael Vaughan Predicted India’s Defeat On Day 3

Interestingly, Michael Vaughan had predicted that India would lose the Test match on day 3 itself just after the day’s play had started. However, India’s fightback on the day made the former England captain take back his words and praise their batting effort.

Meanwhile, both Pujara and Kohli are approaching personal milestones. Pujara is nine runs away from what would be his first Test ton since 2019. Kohli too is awaiting his first Test ton since the Kolkata hundred against Bangladesh in the Pink-Ball Test vs Bangladesh which started India’s WTC campaign.
