Danny Care will complete his remarkable comeback to the England squad from the bench when his country faces the Barbarians at Twickenham on Sunday, with Tom Curry leading the team from the side of the scrum.

Eddie Jones has named a relatively inexperienced side due to several players taking the field in the Premiership final between Saracens and Leicester Tigers on Saturday.

New look side

Tommy Freeman is handed his first start at full-back with Joe Cokanasiga and a fit-again Jonny May making up the back three.

Harlequin Joe Marchant forms a new pairing with Mark Atkinson in the midfield, while young star Marcus Smith and vice-captain on the day Harry Randall make up the half-back pairing.

An exciting loose trio sees number eight Alex Dombrandt pack down next to Sam Underhill and captain Curry, with Charlie Ewels and Jonny Hill in the second-row.

Jones has selected a young front-row as uncapped Jack Walker joins props Bevan Rodd and Will Collier at the front of the scrum.

Veteran flank Courtney Lawes joins Care as one of the few experienced players on the bench along with Jack Nowell. Meanwhile, Jack Singleton, Will Goodrick-Clarke and Patrick Schickerling make up the replacement front-row options with only a few Test caps between them.

Jack Willis and uncapped Orlando Bailey are the remaining replacements as Jones looks forward to seeing his young side in action.

“This is a young team, they have prepared really well and worked hard over the past few camps to come together as a group. It is a great opportunity to play in this England XV side and show what they can do,” he said.

“We are looking forward to playing against an unusually French Barbarians side – which you normally only get when you play the French Barbarians.

“We’ll use it as an opportunity to develop combinations and assess players for the Australia tour.

“We will put our best foot forward and it should make for a great game of rugby for all of the supporters at Twickenham.”
