Saracens hooker Jamie George is one of three players to be called up to the England squad as they prepare for their Autumn Nations Series clash with Japan.
The 32-year-old was not named in the initial group and was not expected to feature this month after sustaining a foot injury while playing for Sarries in October.
But George has recovered quicker than expected and provides a boost to a side that suffered a shock 30-29 defeat to Argentina on Sunday.
Northampton duo receive call-ups
Northampton Saints duo Tommy Freeman and Alex Mitchell have also been called up to the training squad ahead of the upcoming match with the Brave Blossoms.
An RFU statement read: “Eddie Jones has named a 36-player squad for England’s Autumn Nations Series match against Japan this weekend.
“England will take on the Brave Blossoms at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday 12 November (3.15pm KO).
“There are returns to the squad for Jamie George, Tommy Freeman and Alex Mitchell.”
Manu Tuilagi is deemed fit enough to remain in the squad despite appearing to limp off against Argentina.
However, his Sale Sharks team-mate Raffi Quirke is not among the players named after breaking his arm against Gloucester on Saturday, with Mitchell taking the place of the 21-year-old.
Val Rapava Ruskin and George McGuigan are also not named after being released back to their clubs.
