England vs Belgium: Prediction, TV channel, live stream, team news, time, h2h - Uefa Nations League preview

England and Belgium meet at Wembley today as two of the favourites for the Uefa Nations League go head to head.

Gareth Southgate experimented with his squad for Thursday's friendly against Wales, and was rewarded with a comfortable 3-0 victory as Jack Grealish shone.

Now attentions turn to Roberto Martinez's Belgium, who will already have one eye on winning next summer's European Championships.

The Three Lions' Nations League draw in Demnark sees them trailing Belgium by two points after two games, and Southgate's men need a result in London in order to reel the Red Devils back in ahead of November's trip to Brussels.

Date, time and venue

England vs Belgium is scheduled for a 5pm BST kick-off today (October 11).

The match will be behind closed doors at Wembley Stadium with no fans due to be present due to government guidelines regarding coronavirus.

How to watch

TV channel: England vs Belgium will be shown live on ITV, which is free to air in the UK.

Live stream: UK viewers can watch the match online via ITV Hub.

Team news

Southgate has some serious questions to ponder with his team selection for this game - particularly in the context of excluded trio Ben Chilwell, Jadon Sancho and Tammy Abraham.

Sancho, Chilwell and Abraham all missed the Wales game after breaching Covid guidelines, celebrating the Chelsea striker's birthday before joining up with the squad - which meant their link-up with the rest of the group was delayed.

Danny Ings and Dominic Calvert-Lewin both scored on their first starts while Conor Coady got his first goal in just his second game for the Three Lions. At left-wing back, Bukayo Saka looked assured in Chilwell's absence.

The likes of Harry Kane, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Eric Dier and Marcus Rashford should return to the starting XI, but Southgate will enjoy having some tough decisions to make after a string of frustrating headlines.

England predicted lineup (3-4-3): Pickford; Gomez, Dier, Maguire; Alexander-Arnold, Rice, Henderson, Trippier; Sancho, Kane, Rashford

Squad

Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford, Nick Pope, Dean Henderson

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Tyrone Mings, Kieran Trippier, Eric Dier, Joe Gomez, Kyle Walker, Michael Keane, Conor Coady, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Ben Chilwell, Bukayo Saka, Harry Maguire, Reece James

Midfielders: Declan Rice, Mason Mount, Harry Winks, James Ward-Prowse, Kalvin Phillips, Jack Grealish, Harvey Barnes, Jordan Henderson

Forwards: Harry Kane, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Tammy Abraham, Danny Ings, Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Prediction: England 1-1 Belgium

Given the circumstances of this international break, while this is a competitive game, it remains to be seen whether either side's top players will be at 100 per cent.

The hosts will fancy their chances after squad players shone against Wales, but a tight draw may be the more likely outcome against world-class opposition.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

The two nations have met 23 times: England have won 15 of those, drawing four and losing four times to Belgium.

However, the Red Devils have had the better of it lately, beating England in three of their last five meetings - and twice at the 2018 World Cup, once in the group stages and then in the third-place playoff game.
