England host Iceland in the Nations League on Wednesday evening in what is essentially a dead rubber following the sides’ eliminations from the competition this week.

England needed to beat Belgium on Sunday to stand a chance of progressing from Group A2, but the Three Lions were defeated 2-0. At the same time, Iceland’s search for a win – or even a point – in the tournament remained unsuccessful when they lost 2-1 to Denmark after conceding a penalty in the final moments of the game.

England coach Gareth Southgate will at least hope to use this match to test out different options in terms of personnel and – potentially – tactics, following criticism of his cautious approach against Belgium.

No matter which combination of players Southgate picks, they should have too much for an Iceland side that have lost all five of their Nations League games this season with a goal difference of -10. England 2-0 Iceland.
