India will have its work cut out on day three at Oval with the match setup really well at the moment. England will have a slight advantage as their batsmen hung out for a lot more time than they were expected to and the pitch has started to show signs of becoming really good to bat on. The second session of day two is going to be the best for batting and India will be looking to take advantage of it.
The weather on day three seems to be quite good at the moment for batting and there might be some help for the bowlers during the first session. The cloud cover is set to deepen up with a precipitation percentage of 8 percent with a humidity of 85 percent.
The average temperature throughout the day is expected to be around 16 degrees Celcius and it will be brighter for batsmen with the sun coming out as the day progresses.
England Take A Crucial Lead
England has managed to extend their lead to 99 runs after struggling at 62 for five wickets at one stage and Ollie Pope has turned out to be the difference between the two sides at the moment. Pope’s 81 along with Chris Woakes’s 50 and some useful contributions from Moeen Ali and Jonny Bairstow made sure that England has a big chance to win this test if they bowl well on the third day.
Umesh Yadav was India’s pick of the bowlers picking up three wickets while Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets each. Shardul Thakur and Mohammad Siraj weren’t at their best despite picking up a wicket each and they are due for better performance in the fourth innings.
India Make Inroads In The Final Session
India bundled out England for 290 and it looked like England could have got a lot more with the way batted out in the second session. The important task was to bat out the final overs before the end of the day’s play and the Indian openers played out it to perfection. India ended the day at 43 for no loss with 10 wickets in the bank and has got closer to the deficit of 56 runs.
India will need to bat out the whole day three if they have to get a chance to win this Oval Test.
