England vs India 2021: If Ajinkya Rahane Isn’t Able To Perform, Then Let Gates Open For Suryakumar Yadav Or Hanuma Vihari: Danish Kaneria
Former Pakistan player Danish Kaneria questioned Indian team management to retain India’s vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane despite a dismal performance with the bat in the ongoing England Test series.
Rahane, who is India’s vice-captain in Test format, hasn’t scored enough runs with the only time he stepped up was in Lord’s where his 61 helped India revive their innings. The Mumbai batsman averages 15.57 in the four matches he has played in the series so far.

Rahane went for a nought in India’s second innings after he was trapped leg-before wicket by England all-rounder Chris Woakes on the fourth day at Kennington Oval. Kaneria feels India is saving Rahane and voiced the inclusion of Suryakumar Yadav or Hanuma Vihari as the middle-order batsman’s replacement.
“I don’t understand why they are saving Ajinkya Rahane. If he isn’t able to perform in this innings then let the gates open for Suryakumar Yadav or Hanuma Vihari. Rahane is not in form and he doesn’t know where his off-stump is. If you know a player isn’t in form then you should have replaced him. A message goes to the opposition that you are saving the batsman,” Kaneria said on his YouTube channel.

On the third day of the fourth Test, Indian opener Rohit Sharma brought up his first overseas hundred after he scored 127 off 256 balls, his innings was laced with 14 fours and a six. Rohit along with Rahul put an 83-run stand between them to set a base for India in the second innings.
Kaneria applauded Rohit for his classic batting and said that he enjoyed his batting.
“I really enjoyed the way Rohit Sharma batted, the way he fought out in the first session. The elegance, class, focus and determination were there and India really needed such partnership from their openers. This is how you score in England and it was fantastic to see him bat,” Kaneria added.
Rohit Sharma also brought up his 3000 Test runs during the course of his marvellous hundred.
