England vs Scotland: Harry Kane dreaming about replicating Patrick Schick’s wonder goal

Harry Kane is already dreaming about replicating Patrik Schick’s wonder goal against Scotland.

The England captain is yet to open his account at these Euros after winning the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup.

And after seeing Czech Republic striker Schick stun Scotland with a goal from 50 yards on Monday, he admits he has thought about trying the same.

Ahead of Friday’s showdown with Steve Clarke’s side at Wembley, Kane said: “It was unbelievable. To see the keeper off the line is one thing, but then to be able to put it in the back of the net is another.

“It was probably the goal of the tournament. That will be a hard one to beat.”

Kane added: “Every now and then I will look for that one. The keepers today like to play as sweepers waiting for that ball in between, so if there is a ricochet or an opening I like to try to look for that one. You never know, we might get another one this tournament.”

England can secure qualification for the knockout stages on Friday after winning their opening game against Croatia.

Scotland, meanwhile, are desperate to avoid defeat after losing 2-0 the Czech Republic.

Kane said: “To be honest I thought Scotland played quite well. They had a few chances - the Czech keeper made some great saves and obviously they scored one from 50-yards, which changed the game a little bit.

“Scotland were good. Obviously we will be looking at the game and assessing that game and looking at the things we can exploit. All in all we are ready for a tough game.”

Kane added: “There were a lot of positives to take (from Croatia). Croatia are a good side - a good experienced side, but I thought we managed the game well. I thought we moved it well, but there were spells where Croatia had the ball - but in all we controlled the game pretty good.

“The focus is now to the Scotland game. It is always nice to win, but you have to move onto the next one and that is what we are focused on now.”

Kane also revealed he has reached out to Christian Eriksen after his former Tottenham teammate suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch on Saturday.

“I texted him, but haven’t got a response yet obviously,” he said. “He is going under some tests.

“My wife managed to speak to his wife and she said obviously they are doing okay, they are going through the checks.

“It was a scary time for him and his family as well. It was dreadful to watch. I am wishing him all the best and his family all the best and I am hoping he makes a speedy recovery.

“Sometimes we take things for granted and we take football for granted and life for granted. That was a reminder that things can be taken away so quickly.

“It was a dreadful thing to watch and experience. For us it is just about enjoying this experience, enjoying this tournament and going out there with no fear.

“We want to win, we are all winners, we are passionate to win - just express yourself and enjoy the occasion because they don’t come around too often.”
