England XI vs San Marino: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for World Cup qualifier today

Jesse Lingard starts for England against San Marino in tonight’s 2022 World Cup qualifier.

Gareth Southgate has been impressed by the midfielder's blistering form for West Ham and includes him in his starting XI at Wembley following his international recall.

Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse earns a start in midfield alongside Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips, with Lingard joining the attack alongside Mason Mount and stand-in captain Raheem Sterling.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin leads the line against the world’s lowest-ranked international team instead of usual skipper Harry Kane, who is only a substitute with games against Albania and Poland to come over the next six days.

Chelsea’s Reece James starts on the right of a back four, with Conor Coady and the returning John Stones at centre-back in an experimental lineup and Ben Chilwell at left-back.

Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka is out, while Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is also not fit.

Pope, James, Stones, Coady, Chilwell, Ward-Prowse, Phillips, Lingard, Mount, Sterling, Calvert-Lewin
