Engoulvent wins Luxembourg prologue

Jimmy Engoulvent (Saur-Sojasun) won the 2.7km prologue time trial at the Tour de Luxembourg to take the early lead in the race.

The Frenchman took the yellow jersey after finishing the course in three minutes and 43 seconds on the city streets, replicating his success in 2010.

RadioShack-Nissan duo Gregory Rast and Jonathan Hivert both came next three seconds down.

The first stage proper takes place on Thursday with a 181km trek from Luxembourg to Hesperange which is likely to culminate in a bunch sprint.

The four stage race concludes back in Luxembourg city on Sunday.
