Jadon Sancho has handed Enzo Maresca a huge Chelsea injury boost before their return to Premier League action against Leicester City. The 24-year-old arrived to Stamford Bridge on a season-long loan from Manchester United over the summer with his switch including an obligation to buy in the region of £25million.

Having worked with him before at Manchester City, Maresca was keen to bring Sancho and though he is yet to score for his new club, he did provide three assists during Chelsea's five-game unbeaten run earlier in the campaign.

He has however, missed the last few weeks with several issues all arriving one after another. "He is recovering from [illness]," Maresca admitted before the Arsenal clash. "He had a knock in the session. He is out for tomorrow, and we will see if he is available [this weekend] or after the international break."

Sancho was not named in the squad that drew 1-1 against the Gunners but with that clash arriving just before a two-week domestic pause, Sancho returning for Chelsea's next game looked very likely. And it has now emerged that this exact scenario could play out with the winger spotted back out on the grass at Cobham for team training.

Cole Palmer meanwhile, pulled out of England duty after picking up a knee injury against Manchester United but is expected to feature against the Foxes. Back onto Sancho, if he can get a full week of sessions under the belt, a return to the matchday squad for the trip to King Power Stadium is the likely outcome.

Maresca will certainly see that as a big boost given the dilemmas he is facing in attack surrounding Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto. The latter has been deployed on the left in the absence of Sancho having shared minutes with Madueke on the opposite flank since arriving this past summer.

However, Neto has been pushing for a start in his favoured role with a big decision facing Maresca following his equaliser against Arsenal. Both players also made a huge impact on international duty and Sancho being added into the situation could see Maresca revert back to his preferred attacking set up.

For the first time in four weeks, Sancho could be handed a start with one of Neto or Madueke replacing him later in the game. Alternatively, Sancho could be introduced to play on the left with either Madueke or Neto making way while the other is deployed on the right.
