The Euros begin in Herning on August 20 and while the likes of Great Britain have already announced their line-up for the showpiece competition in Denmark, many nations are still mulling over their options.

Victoria Max-Theurer and Renate Voglsang are already shoo-ins for the Austrian team, but there are two places still up for grabs this weekend.

So the pressure is on the likes of Peter Gmoser, Evelyn Haim-Swarovski, Christian Hartung, Alexander Hauptmann, Karin Kosak and Belinda Weinbauer.

French riders too will have plenty to prove in Austria and the performances of Claire Gosselin, Ludovic Henry, Pierre Subileau and Karen Tebard will be closely watched, since all of them are on their country's short list along with Jessica Michel, Marc Boblet, Catherine Henriquet and Arnaud Serre.

They will hope to impress in their bid to win a ticket to Denmark when they take to the arena for the Grand Prix on Friday and the Freestyle Grand Prix on Sunday.

Their main competition should come from German Dorothée Schneider and Italian Valentina Truppa, who will have their eyes on victory too.

For the record, the British pairs named for the European Championships are Charlotte Dujardin/Valegro, Carl Hester/Uthopia, Laura Tomlison (formerly Bechtolscheimer)/Mistral Hojris and Michael George Eilberg/Half Moon Delphi.
