Instead of racking up victories, the Swiss have relied on consistently solid performances to get themselves into pole position with just three legs remaining.

They have come in second twice and fifth once and stand ahead of the likes of Ukraine and Germany - teams who have both recorded wins.

Germany find themselves in a rather difficult position in fifth place, despite having won in Rotterdam. They could, and perhaps should, be higher in the standings but their decision to skip Saint Gallen - one of their nominated points scoring venues - has hit them hard. And with their next chance to score not until Hickstead in early August, they stand to drop further off the pace.

France are currently in second with 232.67 points thanks to two third place finishes - in La Baule and Rome - and a fifth.

They are followed by the Dutch (230.5), Ireland (220.67), Germany (182) and then Great Britain (143.67).

The first six teams will qualify for the final, to be held in Barcelona between September 26 and 29.

Were the rankings to stay the same until then, Ukraine would not make the final, despite having won in Rome. Spain too would miss out and the pressure will be on these two teams' shoulder in Falsterbö where they, along with Switzerland and the Netherlands, have the opportunity to score points.
