For the first time, the Spanish capital is hosting a CSI3* and a dressage competition, from December 20 to 23.

The CSI has attracted a large number of top riders, with superstar Sergio Alvarez Moya leading a host of fellow Spanish competitors.

Michel Robert, who was in great form in La Coruna last week, will defend the French flag with compatriot Julien Epaillard.

Ireland will be represented by two high quality riders: Jessica Kuerten and Denis Lynch. The German rider Daniel Deusser will also take part, as will the Dutchman Jeroen Dubbeldam and Beat Mändli from Switzerland.

In a bid to promote the event, organisers have proposed equestrian spectacles together with horse-ball demonstrations and Guardia Civil and Royal Guard carousels.
