The competition will be hosted by the Swedish city - a long-standing destination for eventing - from August 29 to September 1.

Each year an CCI 3* is held in Malmo, with some of the best young riders from the continent appearing at last year's event in what was a trial run for the upcoming European Championships.

This year, the British contingent will be hoping to confirm their superiority in the discipline as they seek a 22nd team gold medal.

Germany, however, will fancy their chances with the likes of Michael Jung and Sandra Auffarth in their ranks, while hosts Sweden should not be discounted after an impressive showing at the London Olympics, where they came in fourth in the team event and Sara Algotsson-Ostholt came second.

Ireland, France and Italy should also be in the running for honours.
