ŠKODA Motorsport driver Kopecky, who snatched a last-gasp victory on the thrilling season-opener in Austria in January, triumphed on the Spanish asphalt event in 2010 and 2012 in a Fabia Super 2000.
Czech driver Kopecký is one of 17 ERC runners on the 30-car entry, which marks the first time this season that a significant number of ERC regulars will be in action on the same event.
Peugeot Rally Academy’s Craig Breen (207 S2000) is seeded number two with Stohl Racing’s Daniel Oliveira the third seed in a Brazil World Rally Team Ford Fiesta RRC.
Local hero and event promoter Luis Monzón is seeded four in a MINI John Cooper Works RRC with Formula One race winner Robert Kubica the fifth seed for his ERC debut in a Citroën DS3 RRC.
Two drivers are eligible for points as the inaugural Ladies’ Trophy gets underway.
Bulgaria’s Ekaterina Stratieva, the top-scoring female driver in last year’s ERC, will take part in a Citroën C2 R2 with Canary Islander Emma Falcón competing in a Ford Fiesta R2.
Although Falcón’s programme beyond next week’s asphalt event is unconfirmed, Stratieva hopes to tackle several ERC rounds subject to funding.
The trophy will be contested on all remaining rounds of the ERC, with points awarded to the first three female finishers on each event regardless of car performance.
