Christian Eriksen has reportedly decided to leave Brentford with “many clubs” in the Premier League showing an interest in signing him.

The 30-year-old previously spent six-and-a-half years at Tottenham Hotspur between 2013 and 2020.

Eriksen left the Londoners at the start of 2020 as he signed for Serie A side Inter Milan.

Where every Premier League club has shopped most for transfers this century

At last summer’s European Championships, Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark.

Thankfully he was able to recover. In Italy, players are prohibited from playing with a defibrillator so he had to depart Inter Milan.

Eriksen returned to the Premier League earlier this year as he joined Brentford on a free transfer.

The midfielder shone for the Bees before the end of the 2021/22 campaign. He was involved in five goals in eleven league outings.

His deal expires this summer and he is said to be attracting the interest of several Premier League clubs.

Italian journalist Afredo Pedulla is reporting that Eriksen has decided to leave Brentford as he ‘wants a new important challenge’.

It is stated that ‘many clubs’ in the Premier League ‘would like to sign him up’.

Pedulla goes onto suggest that Antonio Conte ‘would be happy to embrace him again’ at Tottenham Hotspur.

Elsewhere, according to reports, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle do not have the ‘full liking’ of AS Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.

The 22-year-old had a spell at Inter Milan as a youth player but he has been with Roma since 2018.

Zaniolo went straight into the first-term in 2018/19 as he played 36 times for them that season across all competitions.

His progress was hampered in 2020 as he suffered two separate anterior cruciate ligament injuries in January and September.

The midfielder returned to full fitness ahead of the 2021/22 campaign as Jose Mourinho took over.

Zaniolo provided eight goals and nine assists under Mourinho as he was one of Roma’s standout players last term. He helped them win the first Europa Conference League.

Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) are reporting that Roma ‘are willing to sit down to the negotiating table’ if €50m is offered for Zaniolo. They are also not interested in a player-plus-cash deal.

It is noted that ‘Newcastle and Tottenham don’t have the full liking’ of the attacking midfielder.

The report states that Zaniolo ‘would prefer to stay in Italy’ with AC Milan and Juventus interested in him.
