Erling Braut Haaland scored a record nine goals Thursday as Norway thrashed Honduras 12-0 at the Under-20 World Cup in Poland.

The young striker, son of former Leeds United defender Alf-Inge Haaland, scored four times in the first half before adding five more in the second period against a Honduras team which finished with nine men.

Haaland, who plays his club football for Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, was frustrated he failed to grab a 10th goal with the final kick of the game.

'It annoys me a little bit that I didn't score with my last kick of the game,” the 18-year-old told the Norwegian Football Association’s website. “I'll have to sit down and think a little bit about it and maybe I'll work out what happened.”

Haaland was born in Leeds during his dad’s time in England and is a fan of the club.

The incredible win might not be enough to secure Norway a place in the next round. The Norwegians finished third in their group, with only the top two going through, and must wait to see if they are awarded a place in the knockout stages as one of four third-placed teams.
