Leicester lost the first leg of their quarter-final tie with Atletico by just 1-0 at the Calderon in Madrid, with their visitors leaving the King Power Stadium on Tuesday with a 2-1 aggregate victory.
Speaking to reporters after the match on Tuesday, Vardy who scored Leicester’s only goal in the two legs, said: “We’ve given it our all.”
Though he admitted the second half of Tuesday’s game had been the better of the two for his team, he said: “We threw everything at them second half, had some joy but it wasn't meant to be. We left it all out there, can hold our heads high.”
Manager Craig Shakespeare echoed Vardy’s sentiment, telling reporters: “We had to make changes and go more direct [in the second half], but the effort we showed was excellent.”
