It’s never nice to see a player suffer a serious injury, but unfortunately that’s what those at the Aviva Stadium had to go through when Neil Taylor fouled Seamus Coleman in Friday’s game between the Republic of Ireland and Wales.
The referee immediately brandished a red card for the tackle and a hush descended over the ground as the Everton and Ireland full-back received treatment for his injury.
The initial reaction that Coleman had suffered a broken leg appeared to be backed up by the television broadcaster’s decision not to show a replay of the incident.
And fans were soon reminded of the importance of sensitivity around sharing images of the injury.
Coleman was stretchered from the pitch and what followed was a deluge of well-wishers taking to social media to express their hope that the 28-year-old will be okay.
LeBuzz can only echo those sentiments. Get well soon, Seamus
