Eric Barone has got up to some absolutely brutal speeds on a bicycle. He holds the land speed record on both gravel and snow.
He hit 172 km/h or 107 mph on gravel. On a bicycle.
However, that pales compared to his endeavours on snow – back in 2015 he hit 223.3 km/h in Vars, France. That is 138.78 mph or nearly twice the UK’s national speed limit.
Yet, Barone, known as the Red Baron, went one better over the weekend. He absolutely flew down a snow track in Vars at 227,270 km/h or 141.498 mph… on a bike on snow.
For comparison, an Alpine skier will hit up to 80 mph or thereabouts on an Olympic downhill race.
