Toni Kroos is a well known fan of middle-of-the-road singer-songwriters.
And the discerning German livened up an otherwise dull evening of international football with his latest revelation on Twitter, lauding the new James Blunt album.
Yep, James Blunt.
Now we’d forgive you if you thought that the opinion-dividing Blunt hung up his microphone in 2004 after the multi-platinum Back to Bedlam…
… but it turns out he’s released four albums since then, with the latest coming out just this Friday.
Kroos, being a massive fan apparently, is already willing to publicly enthuse about the record, despite it only being out for a matter of hours.
And Kroos’ love of the songster has had the typical Blunt effect on social media, splitting opinion.
As ever, one or two droll comments put a comedic spin on the news:
While one fan even questioned whether Kroos was allowed to control the music in the Real Madrid dressing room with such taste:
LeBuzz can only imagine Cristiano Ronaldo getting pumped up with 1973 in the background… or Sergio Ramos getting teary in his tighty-whiteys to Goodbye My Lover. But at least they’d get some musical variety, with Kroos also counting Robbie Williams, Olly Murs and Ed Sheeran among his “favourite singers”…
