Leicester City needed every bit of help they could get when they were playing Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals. Sadly it didn’t quite work out like that.
After an early deluge from the home side, who threatened to run away with the game, Leicester began to find their footing before being punished on the counter-attack by the Spaniards as Antoine Griezmann scored a penalty on 28 minutes.
But replays showed that the contact from Marc Albrighton on Griezmann came outside the box.
Unsurprisingly there were a lot of people angry at this affront to the Leicester fairytale.
And equally unsurprisingly, one of them was a certain BT Sport presenter…
However, in the BT Studio, former Leicester boss Martin O’Neill wasn’t quite so quick to buy into the ‘Leicester woz robbed’ routine.
You knew he was going to give it. Once Albrighton gets there, he should run parallel with him. It’s a rush of blood – he makes the referee’s mind up for him.
