Remember when Ronaldo (the original) rocked up at the 2002 World Cup with the strangest haircut ever?
Even before the advent of social media, his odd triangle-shaped pattern managed to go viral as people genuinely wondered if a furry animal had set up camp on his scalp.
As we’re sure you’re away, Brazil marched onto claim the trophy, with Ronaldo scoring both goals in the 2-0 win over Germany in the final.
Now, the 40-year-old has revealed it was not a fashion statement – and, instead, was a sneaky ploy.
“My groin was hurting,” he told ESPN Brazil. “I was only at 60%. So I shaved my head. “Everybody was only talking about my injury. “When I arrived in training with this haircut everybody stopped talking about the injury.”
That, ladies and gentlemen of LeBuzz, is either: a) genius, or b) an alternative truth. We’re leaning towards the latter…
