Everton put in one of their worst displays of the season as they were held to a 0-0 draw away to West Ham.
The Toffees, who changed their goalkeeper with Maarten Stekelenburg starting ahead of Joel Robles, failed to create a single chance on target in the 90 minutes with Romelu Lukaku having an off day.
Slaven Bilic, who named Adrian and Jonathan Calleri in his starting line-up, saw his side dominate the first half but were reduced to half chances.
The second half was a similar story with the home side having the better opportunities, although Everton had a strong penalty claim late on after Ashley Williams had his shirt tugged by James Collins but the referee did not appear to see the incident.
The result sees Ronald Koeman’s side remain seventh in the table while the Hammers climb to 13th.
What happened to Romelu Lukaku? The stage was set for the Belgian to add to his 24 goals this season as he had scored in each of his previous nine games against the Hammers. But he barely had a kick as he was starved of service and could not carve out any opportunities himself. The contract rebel, who has been linked with a move back to Chelsea, has been scoring freely at Goodison Park but has only scored once in his last seven away games.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Winston Reid (West Ham): The defender may have caught Lukaku on a bad day but he dealt with the Belgian well using his strength. He shrugged off a nasty looking injury early on to play on and marshall the Hammers defence and was supported well by James Collins.
WEST HAM: Adrian 5, Collins 7, Fonte 6, Reid 8, Masuaku 6, Fernandes 6, Nordtveit 6, Kouyate 6, Lanzini 6, Ayew 5, Calleri 4. Subs: Sakho 5, Cresswell 5.
