Spurs plan new Alderweireld deal
Tottenham Hotspur are planning a new contract for centre-back Toby Alderweireld as reward for his good form and to ward off interest from other clubs. The Mail report that Alderweireld could double his wages from around £50,000 a week to around £100,000 a week in line with the club's highest earners, Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris.
Paper Round's view: With all the talk around Danny Rose, Kyle Walker, Dele Alli and Kane it is imperative that Spurs keep hold of Alderweireld. He can make a good case for being the best centre-back in the league and he can consider himself unfortunate not to be in the PFA Team of the Year. This would be excellent business for Spurs.
Bilic still keen on Sturridge
West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has been speaking positively of Daniel Sturridge, saying how much he admires him as a player. Bilic said the club have a list of strikers they want to sign but said Sturridge still shows his class when he plays.
Paper Round's view: There's no doubt that Sturridge needs a fresh start, things have gone pretty badly at Liverpool for him recently. Can West Ham get the best out of him? That remains to be seen but if they can they could be pushing right back up the table.
