First-half goals from Jamie Ward and Conor Washington were enough to secure three points for Northern Ireland against Norway.
The win moves them back up to second place in Group C, behind leaders Germany who still have a 100 per cent record.
It took a minute and a half for Ward to break the deadlock after good work from Chris Brunt and Stuart Dallas on the left, and Washington doubled the lead just after the half-hour with a smart nutmeg of Rune Jarstein in the Norway goal.
Alexander Soderlund came closest for Norway, hitting the woodwork and leaving Michael McGovern stranded.
Are Northern Ireland going to hang on to second place in Group C? Their fans seemed confident, and on this display - where they were significantly better than Norway - it would seem a fair shot. Next up for them - away to Azerbaijan.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Conor Washington (Northern Ireland). A close one - could have gone to one of several in the Northern Ireland team - but Washington's sheer endeavour and attitude edges it.
