Manchester United have a standout right-back candidate as they draw up a list of options, while Liverpool eye a Ligue 1 star – both in all the latest Euro Paper Talk.

MAN UTD EYE ACHRAF HAKIMI

Manchester United are reportedly beginning to turn their attentions to signing a new right-back, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi a firm target.

United have finally begun to get going in this summer’s transfer window, sealing three signings in quick succession. Left-back Tyrell Malacia was the first, with Lisandro Martinez the latest defensive addition.

Meanwhile, Christian Eriksen has bolstered Erik ten Hag’s midfield, with Frenkie de Jong also eyed in that area.

But new Man Utd boss Ten Hag wants a new right-back in at Old Trafford before the transfer window closes.

Inter’s Netherlands international Denzel Dumfries has already emerged on United’s radar. According to Football Transfers, though, Morocco star Hakimi is another option.

The report claims that Ten Hag ‘really likes’ the 23-year-old, who impressed in his debut season at the Parc des Princes.

Hakimi played 32 Ligue 1 matches, chipping in with four goals and six assists as the French giants won the title back. However, he would reportedly be a costlier option than Dumfries.

Indeed, Hakimi‘s contract only runs out in 2026 and he is looking to settle at a club. He spent two years on loan at Borussia Dortmund from Real Madrid before moving to Inter, where he only lasted one season.

And Football Transfers adds that United will look to offload Aaron Wan-Bissaka before making a new right-back signing. But the Red Devils accept his wage demands and the fact that he has two years left on his deal will make that difficult.

Nevertheless, the report concludes that Ten Hag feels ‘confident’ of an overhaul this summer to get his Old Trafford project up and running.

Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters is also reportedly on United’s radar. Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot shared the right-back responsibility at Old Trafford last season, though neither truly convinced.
