Everton have offered a £120,000-a-week contract to Burnley defender James Tarkowski, according to reports.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is very likely to leave Turf Moor following their relegation to the Championship.

The former Oldham Athletic man has made 219 appearances for the Clarets and has two England caps to his name.

It was reported earlier this month that Newcastle United are in ‘pole position’ to sign Tarkowski after West Ham ‘dropped their interest’.

This is according to the Mirror, who claim the Magpies ‘can offer him a big rise on his current £50,000-a-week wages’.

And now Football Insider have claimed that Everton have offered the centre-half a contract worth a whopping £120,000 per week.

West Ham are still ‘monitoring his situation’ closely while he remains a ‘top target’ for Newcastle.

Burnley opted not to cash in on Tarkowski as they attempted to avoid the drop this season, but were unsuccessful in doing so.

The two-time England man could follow in the footsteps of Michael Keane, who swapped Turf Moor for Goodison Park in a deal worth over £25m in 2017.

Elsewhere, former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has said that his Premier League Player of the Season is Reds forward Mohamed Salah.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne won the award ahead despite the Egyptian leading the league for both goals and assists.

Writing for the Daily Mail, Crouch picked his end of season awards, selecting Salah as his player of the year.

“It’s got to be Mohamed Salah, that has to be the general consensus,” Crouch said.

“The sheer volume of goals and assists and that relentlessness to be at his maximum. Looking at Liverpool, I absolutely love Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk’s the best around at centre half but Salah brings that extra edge to them every week.”
