Everton are reportedly preparing a raid on Premier League rivals Southampton for outstanding right-back Kyle Walker-Peters.

The England international enjoyed a superb season for Saints despite their struggles in the second half of the campaign. However, the emergence of Tino Livramento at St Mary’s has led to suggestions that the south coast outfit could try and cash in on Walker-Peters.

The 25-year-old joined Southampton in a permanent £12million deal in 2020 after an initial loan spell.

He has gone to make 72 appearances in all for the club, scoring three goals in that time.

In 37 games last season he found the net twice and laid on four assists as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men finished 15th.

But with former Chelsea youngster Livramento also showing his qualities, clubs chasing Walker-Peters appear to have been given a boost.

And reporter Alan Nixon claims that Toffees boss Frank Lampard is keen on striking a deal.

It’s also claimed that Walker-Peters could be available for a bargain price between £10-15m. That would be an absolute snip for a player who has been capped twice at senior level.

Lampard looking at right-back upgrade

Everton good do with strengthening the right-back position, with  Jonjoe Kenny leaving the club, Seamus Coleman in the latter stages of his career and Nathan Patterson struggling for fitness after joining the club from Rangers in January.

Walker-Peters has previously been described as ‘fantastic’ by Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards. And there is a feeling on Merseyside that the former Spurs defender would be an upgrade at right-back.

The main problem for the Toffees, however, could be convincing the player to head north.

London-born Walker-Peters has spent the entirety of his career so far in the south of the country and it’s not clear if he is prepared to head up the M1 for a fresh challenge.
