Talks between Everton and the French champions are ongoing, with the Senegal international thought to be surplus to requirements under the new manager Christophe Galtier.

Gueye has a year left on his PSG contract and according to the Daily Mail, the Parisians have offered the Senegal international back to the Merseyside club in a bid to recoup a fee before he leaves on a free next summer.

The midfielder won two league titles and enjoyed two Coupe de France triumphs with PSG. He has also made 111 appearances for the Parc des Princes club. Gueye first arrived in the Premier League back in 2015 after signing with Aston Villa from Lille for a reported £9million. In his sole season at Villa Park, the midfielder made 38 appearances across all competitions and scored one goal. With Villa facing relegation to the Championship, Gueye moved to Everton for £7.1million, signing a four-year contract. The player enjoyed three seasons at Goodison Park, where he made 108 appearances and scored four goals. On July 2019, Gueye moved to Paris Saint-Germain for £30million, but after three seasons in France, it appears the Senegal international may be on his way back to the Premier League.
