According to reports, Everton have submitted an ‘opening bid of over £20m’ for Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White and this has been rejected.

Gibbs-White progressed through the ranks at Wolves. He has been unable to establish himself as a regular in the Premier League in recent seasons.

The England U21 international joined Championship side Sheffield United on a season-long loan deal ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

Football is finally willing to embrace empathy, equality and rest of ‘woke agenda’

The 22-year-old performed brilliantly last term as he won the club’s Player of the Year award. He grabbed twelve goals and ten assists in the Championship.

Newly-promoted Nottm Forest have been linked with him of late. The Telegraph’s John Percy has now revealed that he is a ‘priority signing’ for Everton.

The Toffees have now had an ‘opening bid’ for Gibbs-White rejected by Wolves. The fee offered is understood to be ‘over £20m’.

The centre-midfielder is out of contract in 2024 though Wolves have offered him a new deal. The report notes that Bruno Lage’s side are ‘relaxed about the situation’.

Should Gibbs-White make it clear that he wants to go, ‘Wolves are expected to seek a deal closer to £30m including add-ons’.

Meanwhile, Everton have been encouraged to keep Anthony Gordon this summer amid reported interest from their Premier League rivals Newcastle United.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Magpies would pay £35m for him and that the player is ‘tempted’ by the move. Simon Jordan has advised the Toffees to keep Gordon:

“Gordon is a product of Everton’s academy,” Jordan told talkSPORT.

“He is in the mould of wanting to play for Everton.

“He’s not some player (who is) coming to Everton, doing them a favour, picking up a big paycheck and, when it suits him better, to be leaving. Everton need their best players in the academy, to embody what the fans want to see. That is good young talent coming through.

“The boardroom wants to see a team that isn’t producing outcomes that give (Farhad) Moshiri the look of being a court jester. What they want is a team that’s winning. So Moshiri can sit back and not listen to people tell him how crap he is at running his football club.”
