Everton have reportedly enquired about the potential signing of free agent playmaker Christian Eriksen, but Frank Lampard has decided against a move for Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks.

The Toffees are on the brink of losing one of their star players as Spurs close in on a £60million swoop for Richarlison, with a deal agreed for the Brazilian to head to north London in the coming days.

A package deal for Richarlison and winger Ben Gordon was also mooted. However, Lampard made it very clear that the academy graduate is going nowhere this summer.

Everton are said to happy with the fee they will recoup for Richarlison, despite late Chelsea interest. The timing of the deal also means the Toffees are able to include his sale in the 2021-22 financial figures, giving them more room to reinvest in the squad this summer.

Had the deal been completed after July 1, Lampard would have been limited significantly in the transfer market.

Richarlison’s strike partner Dominic Calvert-Lewin will, however, be remaining at Goodison. Arsenal have been looking at landing the England man, but are now closing in on Gabriel Jesus.

According to inews, the Toffees will turn their attentions to sign ‘players capable of increasing the club’s goal threat’.

That rules out Tottenham midfielder Winks, who does not provide any real goal or assist threat.

The England star was mooted as makeweight in the Richarlison deal. However, Lampard has ruled out the signing after he ‘did extensive due diligence’ on the player.

Eriksen emerges on Lampard radar

Everton are, however, interested in trying to land Denmark legend Eriksen.

The report adds that Goodison chiefs have ‘made a pitch’ to the Brentford and Manchester United target.

Both of those clubs are known to have offered the playmaker a contract. However, Eriksen has yet to decide where he will be playing in the upcoming campaign.

Should Lampard be able to tempt the 30-year-old to move to Merseyside, he will be signing one of the Premier League’s top assist makers over the last nine years.

Even in his short spell at Brentford last season, Eriksen still notched a goal and four assists in 11 games. His form led the Bees to an eventual 13th-placed finish well clear of the relegation places.
