Everton vs Tottenham: Prediction, kick off time, TV, live stream, team news, h2h results - preview today

Antonio Conte takes charge of his first Premier League game as Tottenham manager as his new side travel to Everton on Sunday.

The former Chelsea boss was drafted in as a high-profile successor to the sacked Nuno Espirito Santo this week and quickly picked up a maiden victory, against Vitesse Arhem in the Europa Conference League.

And while he will have been impressed with Spurs’ attacking in that dramatic five-goal clash in north London, he will be demanding swift defensive improvements for the weekend trip to Merseyside.

Conte was bested by Rafael Benitez in his last game in the English top-flight - Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat by Newcastle on the final day of the 2017/18 season - but the Italian’s hopes of quickly improving a dismal scoring record that has seen Tottenham register just nine goals in 10 league games so far this season will be high against an Everton team that are looking to avoid a fourth successive loss and have shipped 16 already in 2021/22.

The match will take place at Goodison Park.

Where to watch Everton vs Tottenham

However, you can catch highlights from Merseyside on Match of the Day 2 on BBC One from 10:30pm.

Latest Everton vs Tottenham team news

Everton will remain without the quartet of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes this weekend, though Lucas Digne is back in contention.

Conte fielded a strong XI against Vitesse with an immediate shift to his preferred 3-4-1-2 formation, but Tottenham were obviously very vulnerable defensively.

There shouldn’t be many changes in personnel, though he might opt for more creativity in midfield by swapping out one of Oliver Skipp or Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for Tanguy Ndombele or Giovani Lo Celso.

Bryan Gil and Ryan Sessegnon are still sidelined, however.

Everton vs Tottenham prediction

Everton away might appear a difficult first assignment back in the top-flight for Conte, but the Toffees - who conceded five at Watford last month - are reeling after four consecutive defeats and have problems all over the pitch.

Benitez will be desperate to avoid equalling his longest losing streak as a Premier League manager and has admitted that his side “have issues” as he pleads for patience among the Goodison faithful.

Tottenham proved against Vitesse they do have attacking firepower in abundance when confident and motivated, though their porous defence remains a big concern despite Conte’s swift formation shift.

Expect this game to be entertaining and high on goals, if not quite reaching the levels of the nine-goal FA Cup classic played out on the same ground back in February.

Everton 2-3 Tottenham.
