Super League duo Leeds Rhinos and Wakefield Trinity clashed at Headingley on Boxing Day as they kicked off their pre-season campaigns with a closely fought contest.

Brad Arthur’s outfit had a late George Brown try to thank to seal victory, with the Rhinos running out 18-16 winners after Jake Connor touched down for a first-half try brace. For Wakefield, Noah Booth, Seth Nikotemo, and Dom Sinfield got over the line, with the clash the first involving Super League sides this pre-season.

And with less than 50 days until the big kick-off, more and more sides will come into action into the new year, with every British-based club having fixtures locked in ahead of February 13th's start. There are matches at home and overseas, with Hull KR taking a fixture over the North Sea and to Holland, where they take on York Knights in Amsterdam. Elsewhere, Castleford Tigers will also play a game in Spain against Valencia Hurricanes.

There are several testimonial games set to take place too. Hull FC meet Castleford in Joe Westerman’s match, one of four matches for the Fords this pre-season, while the careers of Ash Handley, Luke Gale, Morgan Knowles, and Toby King will also be celebrated.
