Every word Enzo Maresca said on Chelsea title race, Marc Cucurella red card, Brentford win
Enzo Maresca has just faced the media following Chelsea's crucial victory over Brentford in the Premier League.
The Blues edged past a tricky Bees side by two goals to one to move within two points of leaders Liverpool. Here is how Chelsea head coach Maresca reacted to the win...

"No matter how many games we are going to win, I think we are not ready to compete for the title. One of the reasons why is because I think [other] teams know how to compete for titles.
"They are not going to concede the goal we conceded. We conceded the goal on 90 minutes, throw-in for us, we conceded a goal. A team that knows how to win titles, that goal they are not going to concede. This is one of the reasons why I continue to say we are not ready for titles, even if you don't believe me or you think that I say that for... I've told you many times I would love the pressure to compete for titles but we are not ready for many reasons; one of the reasons why is because we cannot concede the goal we conceded, open the game and give them the chance to take a point here."
Can you clarify what happened with Marc Cucurella after the full-time whistle?
"I asked the referee and he said to me that the second yellow card was for bad attitude."
Did you agree with it?
"When the final whistle [was blown], I was with coaching staff, hugging them and celebrating so I did not see nothing. I don't know."
Thomas Frank wasn't happy with the way Cucurella play acted before that. What is your take on that?
"It's Frank's opinion, not mine. I have nothing to say."
Is it something you would speak to Cucurella about?
"Cucurella was top on the ball and off the ball, together with the other 10, they were fantastic. We are happy and delighted with Marc's performance tonight."
Do Chelsea have a discipline problem?
"No, no. I've said many times we can do many things better; the way we attack and the way we defend but also the way we need to manage some moments. This is probably one of the moments we can improve but overall, with the spirit of the team, we know that sometimes you can receive some yellow cards.
"Probably the second one is not the correct one, or the correct thing to do, but there are things that we need to improve."
Suspensions can hinder what you are trying to do...
"Yes, but Cucu will be suspended and there will be another one in his place. Pedro [Neto] was suspended tonight and Noni's [Madueke's] performance was top. The way he worked off the ball, the way he sacrificed, the ways he fought off the ball. So in the moment they are suspended, another one will play and if the other one does good, we will see after they come back."
You had seven players out tonight, it maybe went under the radar a bit because you have a big squad, but is it hard to cope with that?
"We had Joao [Felix] and Romeo [Lavia] that can probably be available for the next one. Carney [Chukwuemeka] after Astana was ill, Chilly [Ben Chilwell] was ill. Pedro was suspended. Then we have Reece [James] and Wes [Fofana] injured. Unfortunately, yesterday after the session, Benoit [Badiashile] felt something. This is the situation. And Misha [Mudryk is ill]."
Is it good to have a big squad then?
"What do you mean by a big squad? 24 players?"
I guess you have a strong squad...
"We have 24 players. I don't know about the rest of the Premier League clubs. If we have a big squad, then it means that most of the Premier League clubs have a big squad. Because we are at Chelsea, we have 45 players, every time it is a big squad.
"I've said many times, since I've started, we have worked with 24 or 25 players. If this means a big squad, then we have a big squad but I think there are more Premier League clubs with the same amount of players."
Is another factor why you don't think you're ready to compete for the title the fact that Cucurella got involved in something like that at the end?
"For sure, the goal we concede, it is something we need to manage better. At the end of the game, the game is finished, we can manage that moment in a different way. But it is experience for the players to learn and to improve things."
The fans started singing 'we've got our Chelsea back' and also your name. How pleased and proud does that make you feel?
"Very happy. As I said already last time, especially because we can see them happy. We work every day to have that kind of moment; especially at the end of the game. But it is just because of the players - the spirit they showed tonight was unbelievable. Until the end, the desire, they were hungry to get three points. This is the right way."
You don't let us talk about the title, but they want to dream about the title...
"No, no, no. You can talk about the title and the fans can dream about the title, absolutely. If you ask me, I will tell you what I think. But you can think in a different way. Just because there are things, no matter how many games we are going to win, for me, we are not ready but we are happy that the fans can dream something more."
People say one of the reasons you can't compete for the title is the goalkeeper, but the save he made from Christian Norgaard tonight, is that showing something different?
"If you remember, Bournemouth away, the penalty, against Aston Villa one-v-one against [Ollie] Watkins and Nottingham Forest at the end of the game, the save. Tonight, the save. We are happy with Robert, sometimes when we say things, you struggle to believe.
"But Robert is doing fantastic, Filip [Jorgensen] is doing exactly the same in the Conference League. This is what we want; two goalkeepers that can compete and help us win games."
