Ex-Man Utd man blasts in-form Red Devils forward; names the ‘two hearts’ of the club
Former Man Utd defender Paul Parker insists Marcus Rashford has to start contributing more than just to goals during matches.
The England international has been in good form this season with 17 goals and four assists in all competitions for the Red Devils, while he also scored three goals at the World Cup.
He has taken his form to a new level since the break for the World Cup with nine goals in his last nine matches in all competitions, including one in their 3-2 defeat to Arsenal at the weekend.
However, ex-Man Utd defender Parker is frustrated by Rashford’s dribbling with his “eyes closed” and wants to see more contributions outside of goals.
Parker told Wettbasis: “You have to respect that he is scoring goals but he also needs to contribute with other things and he is never doing that.
“He tries to dribble past three defenders with his eyes closed and crossing his fingers.
“I don’t like what I’m seeing from him in general but it’s also very tough to put him on the bench because the other attacking players would be even worse than him.”
Man Utd have been much more impressive this season under Erik ten Hag and Rashford was staying positive after their narrow loss to Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Rashford wrote on Twitter: “Never easy to lose a game like that at the last minute but we go again!
“We’re heading in the right direction and need to remain positive.”
Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are key reasons why Man Utd have improved so much this season under Ten Hag and Parker reckons they are the “two hearts” of the Red Devils team.
“If a doctor were to talk about hearts, he would say that a person only has one heart, which is true. But a football club can have two hearts and I would definitely say that Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are the two hearts of the Man United football team.
“Everyone knows how important Casemiro is, but Eriksen is definitely underestimated. He is the link between defense and offense and without him the team would be in trouble both on and off the ball.
“Eriksen is a key player and he was a key signing last summer. I just expect him to improve, so he has a great future in the Man United shirt.”
