Former Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi has revealed that he still gets grilled by his teammates over his appearance on MTV Cribs over 10 years ago.
The 35-year-old, who now plays for Notts County, scored 53 Premier League goals in 312 appearances for Newcastle over a 14-year spell.
He has also started life well at Notts County, scoring four goals in his first 11 games following a free transfer in February.
Speaking to Notts County's official YouTube channel about that very special appearance on MTV Cribs, Ameobi said: “I was stitched up
“Listen, I can take it on the chin, I’m a big man and I had to sit there and watch while everyone was sniggering and laughing.
“But, you know, that’s the camaraderie we have in the squad, we can sit there and have a bit of banter and have a bit of fun.
“No-one is exempt but we are all in this together and hopefully we can have some fun along the way.”
When asked whether that criminal coffee table was still in his house, the former Newcastle striker replied: “I have actually (starts laughing) - my Mrs hates it - but it doesn’t light up anymore, it’s just a coffee table now.”
