Bernardo Silva thinks the sky’s the limit for Portugal at the World Cup after Cristiano Ronaldo’s stunning display in Sochi.

Ronaldo banged in an incredible hat-trick to deny Spain victory in Fernando Hierro’s first game in charge following Julen Lopetegui’s shock sacking.

The Real Madrid superstar seems capable of carrying his team almost single-handedly at times as he continues to break records at the age of 33.

Manchester City playmaker Silva was in awe of his compatriot against the Spanish and is daring to dream in Russia after picking up a valuable point on matchday one.

“It was a fantastic game,” Silva told Yahoo Sport. “When Cristiano is in form he decides everything for us. When he is scoring goals like this for us then everything is possible.

“He has been amazing for more than the years. It is special to have a player alongside us like this. We have to enjoy him and give him the best conditions so he can score more goals. Once again, he was fantastic.

“Everyone was expecting him to start being older, and to stop playing as well as he used to, but he is just getting better and better. We hope he can keep this form in the next few games.

AS IT UNFOLDED: Portugal v Spain

“It is not difficult to play with Cristiano, it is the opposite. It is easy because you just give him the ball and he makes things happen.”

Ronaldo is the first player in history to score in eight consecutive major tournaments in a streak going back to Euro 2004.

The oldest hat-trick scorer in World Cup history will fancy his chances of repeating the feat in upcoming matches with Iran and Morocco.
