The Kaminski family bankrolling the takeover bid for Everton are aiming to have reached an agreement to buy the club by the time Frank Lampard’s team arrive in their hometown of Minneapolis on July 21.

Everton take on MLS side Minnesota United in three weeks and Maciek Kaminski, who goes by the name of ‘MG’, would hope to be in a position to introduce himself to head coach Lampard as the prospective new owner - if not the confirmed custodian, given the need to go through the Premier League owners and directors’ test and receive all the legal sign-offs.

As first revealed by Telegraph Sport, a consortium, which up to this point has been fronted by former Manchester United and Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon, are in talks to buy Everton having signed heads of terms and been granted a period of exclusivity.

Those discussions remain on track and Kaminski, the chief executive of Talon Real Estate, has travelled to England to meet current majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri in person and has visited the site at Bramley-Moore Dock, where Everton’s new £500million stadium will be built which Kaminski has made a commitment to fund.

An outline price, in excess of £500m, has already been agreed in principle for the sale of Everton to the consortium, which is made up of the Kaminski family, Kenyon and American businessman John Thornton, and covers the club’s debt.

The group have also promised there will be funds made available, within Financial Fair Play guidelines, for Lampard to spend and are keen to push the takeover through in time to have a proper run at the second half of the summer transfer window.

Until now, there has been little information readily available on Kaminski, who was born in Poland and emigrated to America with his parents, or his family. The majority of their wealth, the value of which has never been publicised, has been made through investment in and development of retail and commercial properties.

A source close to the family told Telegraph Sport: “Family real estate assets have historically generated healthy investment yields.

“The figures quoted for the money it will cost to buy Everton, build the stadium and invest in the team are not a problem at all. Funding will not be an issue, in fact they are probably over-funded for what could be spent within the rules.”

Aside from the ability to cover the cost, following through on the building of Everton’s new stadium is not an intimidating project for the Kaminski family, who hold a portfolio of commercial and residential property developments throughout the US.

Should they take a trip into downtown Minneapolis next month, then Lampard and his players will see the iconic 19-storey Soo Line Building, which was bought by Kaminski and converted from commercial to residential use. The family also converted the Jackson building from warehousing and sold it to a hotel developer.

Everton is viewed as the flagship acquisition for what the Kaminski family plan to make a portfolio of sports clubs, media rights and entertainment businesses under the recently created Kam Sports LLC organisation, which has its own website.

While expanding the Everton brand in North America, ahead of the 2026 World Cup, is an obvious commercial draw, the Kaminski family and the consortium are attracted to the club’s history, the passionate fanbase and the opportunity to try to restore some of its former glories.

'They are passionate sports fans and have watched the Premier League for a number of years'

They are keen to support the plans of Lampard and Brian Sorensen, the head coach of the women’s team, with Kenyon’s experience inside two of the biggest clubs in the country viewed as invaluable.

A source said: “As a family, they are passionate sports fans and have watched the Premier League for a number of years. While new to football as prospective club owners, they understand and respect the emotional power of the game and Everton’s values and history. They share with the club’s supporters a deep-rooted passion for the future success of the club, both on and off the pitch, and want to be good custodians of ‘the people’s club’.”

Kenyon is understood to be in line to be given a role in the running of Everton should the takeover go through, while Kaminski's son Mikhail, who has a management role within Kam Sports, would be a registered director of Everton alongside his father.

Other than Mikhail, Kaminski has three daughters with his wife, Brenda, to whom he has been married for 33 years after meeting in Minneapolis. Kyle is a practising lawyer, while Coco represented Poland in competition figure-skating and has a commercial role for a global energy firm. Kit is employed on the commercial side for a worldwide technology company.

Born in Poland in 1958, Kaminski's parents were doctors and spent some time living and working as expats in East Africa. They then emigrated to the US, moving to Minneapolis, where he graduated from the University of Minnesota. Kaminski retains dual Polish-American citizenship.

Having acquired and expanded a private gym franchise in post Soviet-era Poland, Kaminski moved into asset management in the US, forming his own firm, before working in commercial property and real estate development, becoming chief executive of Talon.

The source added: “The family have deliberately remained private and out of the media spotlight, although they do recognise that their profile will adjust following the proposed acquisition of Everton and acknowledge the requirement to adapt to this public attention. Each member of the family has a unique perspective that, if they are successful, they intend to fully harness and capitalise on for the benefit of Everton.”
