Manny Pacquiao retired last summer following a defeat to Yordenis Ugas but according to Gibbons, he is ready to lace the gloves up one more time.

The 43-year-old quit the sport to focus on his political career but recently lost out on becoming the Philippines president in their most recent election this year. The senator is open to a possible return though but according to Gibbons, it would have to be this year. "Let's go," said Gibbons. "(I)Would love to see it but Mayweather wants none of this smoke due to his ego. "Senator Pacquiao would love an exhibition (against Mayweather). If he was to return it would be this year - But that is a big if," Gibbons added when asked about a potential Pacquiao comeback.

Mayweather retired from the professional scene back in 2017. His final fight was a 10th round TKO win over Conor McGregor to retire undefeated at 50-0.

It was the second most lucrative fight of all-time, just behind Mayweather's win over Pacquiao in 2015. The American has not stayed away from the sport though. Alongside promoting Gervonta 'Tank' Davis under Mayweather Promotions, the 46-year-old has fought three exhibitions.

It started in 2018 with a brutal win against Tenshin Nasukawa before an eight-round fight with Logan Paul which went the full distance.

His most recent fight was against former sparring partner Don Moore last month. While it went the distance, Mayweather floored Moore and after promised to fight one more time this year. It could see Mayweather and Pacquiao collide for a second time, and should it happen, you can guarantee it will become the highest generating exhibition fight in history.
