Naoya Inoue is the official pound-for-pound best according to Ring Magazine following his latest win over Nonito Donaire. The pair had a rematch this month - following on from their classic encounter in the World Boxing Super Series final three years ago - although this time it was not competitive.

Inoue - who outpointed Donaire in 2019 - dismantled the Filipino icon inside two rounds to add the WBC title to his WBA and IBF straps.

The 29-year-old now has a 23-0 record as a professional with 20 coming inside the distance. WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman agreed with a statement that Inoue lives up to his nickname of 'Monster'. "That's what he is he's a monster - unbelievable. (He had) patience, power, (was) precise - he didn't throw any wild punches," Sulaiman exclusively told Planet Sport. "Everything was precise everything was like a machine. And when he turned on the switch the fight was over. "My respect to Nonito Donaire, he got cut and he could never recover from that tremendous right hand in the first round. "But this was a great battle between two great champions and he ended up in two rounds. That's what happens."

Inoue has made it so secret about becoming undisputed champion in the bantamweight division and the only title to elude him is the WBO belt. While Sulaiman is unaware of any negotiations between the two teams, he has confirmed that the WBC are more than happy to allow the fight to take place next. "I like that I love to see (undisputed champions). We have been working hard with the organisations, with the promoters and having (the) flexibility to allow unified championships. So, we're we're happy about this."
