Exeter City drawn at home to Oxford United in FA Cup third round
Exeter City were drawn against Championship opposition in the FA Cup third round as Oxford United will head to St James Park on the second weekend of January.
Gary Caldwell’s side have beaten National League Barnet and League Two Chesterfield in reaching the third round, but the U’s – promoted from League One last season – will be a different proposition.
They did the double over the Grecians last season, on their way to promotion to the Championship, while Oxford also beat City 4-1 in an FA Cup second round clash in the 2022/23 season.

Tie of the round was Arsenal being drawn at home to current holders Manchester United, while the most romantic side saw Tamworth – one of two non-league clubs still fighting in the competition – drawn at home to Tottenham Hotspur. The other, Dagenham & Redbridge, were drawn away to London neighbours Millwall.
Plymouth Argyle will face Premier League opposition in the third round of this season’s FA Cup after being drawn away to Brentford.
Wayne Rooney’s Pilgrims, without an away win in the Championship this season, have not faced the Bees since the 2010/11 season when the West London side did the double over the Pilgrims as they were relegated from the third tier.
