Leicester City have announced the loan signing of Tete until the end of the season, and the explosive winger wants to make his mark on the Premier League.

Leicester’s recruiting process has been slow over the course of the last year. In the summer, they made just two signings – Alex Smithies on a free transfer and Wout Faes.

The story had been similar so far in January, with only full-back Victor Kristiansen having walked through the door.

However, the Foxes have now made a signing that should excite fans. Indeed, they have loaned in Brazilian winger Tete until the end of the season.

The forward has been on loan at Lyon from Shakhtar of late. He impressed during his loan at Lyon, as well as during his last season with the Ukrainian side.

Indeed, in 19 games in all competitions for Lyon this term, he scored six goals and provided five assists.

That followed a good return in front of goal during the 2021/22 season with Shakhtar, when he netted nine times and chipped in with one assist in 17 games.

The move to the Foxes is subject to international clearance.

Tete has big plans for Leicester spell

Tete will add to the attacking options already at Brendan Rodgers’ disposal. James Maddison and Harvey Barnes have been the most potent assets at the top end of the field this season, having netted seven goals each.

Jamie Vardy also still provides a threat, but has found the net just four times this season.

As such, adding another player that can create goals regularly is a big addition. Tete clearly has lofty ambitions for himself for his time at Leicester, a club he’s excited to be playing for.

“I’m really happy to be here. I’ve had a look at the pitch and the stadium, it’s beautiful and I can already imagine what it’ll be like with a lot of fans,” he said via Leicester’s website.

“I hope to score a lot of goals and assists. I hope they’ll all be happy to see me play, I’m happy to be a Fox.”
