The new trailer for Extraction 2 has shared a first look at Idris Elba's character.

The Luther star reunites with his Thor pal Chris Hemsworth for the follow-up to 2020's Extraction, set to premiere later this month.

In the newly released clip, Hemsworth's black ops mercenary Tyler Rake encounters Elba's character, known as the Man in the Suit. It seems that this mysterious new entry tasks Rake with a dangerous mission off the back of the events of the first film, which ended with him being presumed dead.

"Rake. You are a legend," Elba's character says when finally coming face-to-face with the protagonist.

"I have to say, mate, you're living up to the hype," he continues, adding with a smile: "Rake. That's such a fun name to say."

Not a lot is known about the Man in the Suit's mission for Rake, but it seems it will take place in a completely different setting to the first movie, which was filmed in India and Thailand.

Rake will now have a little adventure in the snow as he has to rescue the family of a ruthless Georgian crime lord from the prison where they are being held.

Screenwriter and producer Joe Russo (Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Endgame) addressed the drastic change of scenery in an interview last year.

"It has a different colour schematic. It's set in a different part of the world. It has a different pace, a different tone than the first one," he told Collider.

"And that, to us, is an interesting way to approach serialising a story is that it's more surprising and unexpected, and you're not going to get the exact same movie that you got the last time."

Extraction 2 is released on Netflix on June 16. The first movie is streaming now on Netflix.
