He’s the king of nostalgic TV, being at the helm of both the rebooted Ready Steady Cook and Supermarket Sweep – but there’s one more show Rylan Clark-Neal is desperate to bring back.

The TV presenter, 31, has called for legendary reality show Big Brother to return to our screens, after it was cancelled for good by Channel 5 in 2018.

Rylan, who won Celebrity Big Brother in 2013 before taking the helm of spin-off show Bit on the Side later that year, gave an impassioned response when asked whether he shaes fans' hopes for the show's return.

“Yeah, I wish I could be that person who could be dignified and show decorum, but I’m f***ing not,” he told Standard Online. “Bring back Big Brother, what the f***?"

He added that he believed it was a mistake for Channel 5 to close the door on the reality TV hit.

“I don’t think it should have went anywhere anyway,” Rylan continued. “But yeah, f***ing bring it back. Do it.”

Originally hosted by Davina McCall when it first broadcast on Channel 4 in 2000, Big Brother moved to Channel 5 in 2011.

Brian Dowling was the first new presenter, until Emma Willis took over in 2013.

The ongoing global lockdown sparked new interest in Big Brother, with many identifying with the housemates being locked away from the outside world.

Channel 4 capitalised on the show’s success too, airing classic episodes titled Big Brother: Best Shows Ever in June.

“The three shows that I’ve worked on: Big Brother, Ready Steady Cook and Supermarket Sweep – everyone’s locked up, everyone’s running around these supermarkets and everyone’s making what they can out of three tins in the cupboard,” Rylan explained.

“I feel like I’ve been prepping for lockdown my whole life.”

For now, however, Rylan is focusing on his version of Supermarket Sweep. Now in its second series, the game show which sees contestants go wild in the aisles has moved from ITV2 to a new mainstream home on ITV.

“Now it’s on ITV we can have a wider age-range,” he explained. “So I’ve got a few Doris’s and Jean’s running around. It’s lovely, it’s really, really great. It’s the Sweep I wanted.

“Everyone knows Sweep for Dale Winton and it was Dale’s Supermarket Sweep. It’s the only job that I’ve inherited that I’ve not been able to speak to the previous host.

“I just wanted to do the show justice as I’m such a big fan of it. It went down well, I feel like I can be a bit more cheeky with it, which is nice.”

Supermarket Sweep continues weekdays from 3pm on ITV
