F1 live: Saudi Arabian Grand Prix watchalong with On Track GP!
Join the On Track GP team for what promises to be an action-packed Saudi Arabian Grand Prix at the Jeddah Corniche circuit.
While there was an air of predictability at the season opener in Bahrain, the same cannot really be said for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix as we have a mixed-up grid looking to untangle themselves under the lights in Jeddah.
Max Verstappen was seemingly cruising to pole position for the race until a driveshaft failure ensured an early exit for the back-to-back World Champion, his engineering team unable to rescue the car in time for Q3.
As a result of the reliability problem, the Dutchman will start from a lowly P15 grid and suddenly has a tougher assignment than he probably first envisaged.
Charles Leclerc, P12, and Lando Norris, P19, are two other big-name drivers looking to make serious progress through the field. Leclerc would have started P2 if it wasn’t for a 10-place grid penalty for new engine parts, while Norris will be eager to make up for his costly Q1 mistake.
At the sharp end of the grid, Sergio Perez will have P1 to defend from a notoriously good starter in Fernando Alonso and Mercedes’ George Russell, lining up from P3, will be looking to keep Carlos Sainz and Lance Stroll in his rear view mirrors.
Lewis Hamilton looks set for another tough race trying to wrestle the W14 and has the likes of Esteban Ocon and Oscar Piastri for company off the starting line.
So, who will come out on top in Jeddah? Watchalong below with the On Track GP team, including PlanetF1.com’s very own Sam Cooper, to find out!
