FA Cup 3rd round draw, ball numbers, start time and TV channel as Aston Villa go in the hat
Aston Villa will begin their FA Cup campaign in the New Year - and this coming week they will discover who their third round opponents are. Villa, as a club in the top two divisions of English football, enter football's oldest club competition in the third round, where they'll join the remaining League One, League Two and non-league sides who have progressed.
This weekend marks the second round of the 2024-25 FA Cup and following the completion of the 20 ties taking place across the coming days, the draw for the next round will take place. Last year, Villa were drawn away to Middlesbrough, who they edged past before losing to Chelsea following a fourth round replay.
Who awaits them this coming year? All will soon be confirmed.

When is the draw for the third round?
The draw is due to take place from 7:00pm on Monday, 2 December. The 20 winning sides from the second round will be joined by the 44 clubs coming into the cup from the Premier League and Championship.
How can I watch it?
The draw will be conducted from Old Trafford, the home of the current holders Manchester United, and be broadcast live on BBC Two and iPlayer from 19:00.
When will the third round take place?
Villa have a busy December ahead. They play eight matches in the coming month, seven of them in the Premier League and then also the Champions League trip to RB Leipzig. Traditionally the FA Cup third round weekend is the first weekend of the New Year, but this year games will take place across the weekend of the 11th/12th of January. Games are likely to be televised on Friday 9th and Monday 13th, too.
