FA Cup third round LIVE! Goal updates and scores as Cambridge and Boreham Wood secure upsets
FA Cup third round - LIVE!
One of the most popular weekends in the English football calendar has arrived, with the third round of this season’s FA Cup up and running.
Manchester City became the first team to book their place in the fourth round by beating Swindon last night, and with replays eschewed this season, another 21 teams will have joined them by the end of the day.
Championship promotion hopefuls Fulham got their campaign underway with a win at Bristol City in one of six lunchtime kick-offs, which saw Hartlepool and Huddersfield shock Blackpool and Burnley respectively. Cambridge then dumped out top-flight Newcastle.
Brentford won at Port Vale to put their name in the hat for the next round. Watford were knocked out in an all-Premier League encounter against holder Leicester, while non-league Boreham Wood secured an upset victory against AFC Wimbledon.
You can follow all the action from around the grounds with Standard Sport’s LIVE blog below...

Our focus among the early kick-offs will be on Ashton Gate, where Bristol City host promotion-chasing Fulham.
The Cottagers went on a dismal run of form prior to Christmas, going five league games without a win, and have slipped out of the automatic promotion places for the time being.
However, Marco Silva’s side have not played since December 20 because of Covid postponements and the Portuguese will be hoping the break will allow his side to re-find their early season form.
Today’s fixtures...

There are 21 in all to get through today but we’ll start with a look at the lunchtime kick-offs:

Despite a Covid outbreak in the camp that saw manager Pep Guardiola forced into isolation, City were able to field a strong team and ran out 4-1 winners, with youngster Cole Palmer particularly impressive as he notched a goal and an assist.
